When Is Mardi Gras 2011?
The actual date of Mardi Gras is based on Lent and Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras always starts on the day prior, a Tuesday (also known as Fat Tuesday). Just for reference, Ash Wednesday is 45 days before Easter. Therefore, Mardi Gras date is 46 days before Easter. Easter is the first Sunday after the full moon which is on or after the Spring Equinox. So it can seem quite complex figuring out the date of Mardi Gras. Future Mardi Gras Dates:

When it comes to Mardi gras, it is known for some excellent food. For appetizers you can use Oysters and crab cakes. For the entrees you can serve a Creole chicken, corn beef and cabbage, gumbo or shrimp Creole. Dessert can be a Doberge cake, Bread pudding (Creole of course), or pralines.
Party Games
You may not want to take your children to a New Orleans party, but Mardis Gras crafts can be a great way to celebrate at home. Masks are a favorite for this activity. What are the favorites? Try using butterflies for the girls and eagles for the boys.
